On Monday evening, Reed said to me "I want to do something really nice for you, Mom." Hmm, what is he up to? Well, it turns out he didn't want anything other than to be kind to me. We must be doing something right! He said "Can you get me up at 5-something in the morning, because I want to make you breakfast in bed"....wow. I could do without the 5-something part, but breakfast in bed sounded pretty good! He negotiated the time with Tod a bit and a deal was struck.
Yesterday morning at 6:30 a.m. on the dot, Tod went in Reed's room and (in contrast with regular days, when he might whine 'I'm tiiiiiiiiiiiiiired' and not get up at all) he popped right up, bright-eyed and busy-tailed and headed for the kitchen. Tod steered him away from cereal (too messy for eating in bed!) and so they settled on a piece of toast with a honey smile, a banana and a glass of orange juice. He was so proud to deliver it to me! What a special day. What a special boy. Best breakfast ever.
